Grooms were leading a mare and her foal in  front of the columns on Elmendorf Farm (the property to the left of this fenceline) which Doug was set up to photograph and is titled "Heritage of the Bluegrass".  To Doug's right, the band of broodmares came up the hill because of the unusual activity.  The broodmares had never seen horses in this area (or on that side of the fence, to be exact).  As a result, they were extremely "curious" and peered across the fence.  Doug turned and captured this unusual, captivating moment - two great photos in one shoot!
