Grooms had lead a mare and her foal in front of the famous columns of Elmendorf Farm. The columns are the only remnants of the famous Ben Ali Haggin mansion. The original Elmendorf Farm once spanned over 5,000 acres and stretched from Newtown Pike to across Paris Pike and on both sides of Ironworks Pike in Lexington, Kentucky. The farm was split up after Haggin's death, the original farm is now home to the famous Thoroughbred farms including Gainesway, Dixiana, Spendthrift, Domino Stud, Payson Stud, and Elmendorf.
