"Amos's Barn" is a section of my neighbors barn that has been neglected since his death. As a young man, I would help him set, house and strip tobacco. He was an old bachelor who was easy-going and never got his tobacco out until late. I knew he would never pay me for working until after he sold his tobacco. But working for him was so slow-paced, it didn't seem like work. He would always go to the store and get me whatever I wanted for lunch. He didn't drive a car, so we rode on his tractor, instead. When I saw the barn, it seemed peaceful and calm, just like Amos always was.
