Genuine Risk - 1980 Kentucky Derby Winner
The 2nd filly to win the Kentucky Derby since 1915. She is presently the oldest living winner of the Kentucky Derby.
Genuine Risk was mated to Triple Crown winner, Secretariat, in 1982, but the colt was stillborn. Over the following 17 years, she only produced 2 living foals, neither of which raced.
She was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1986. She retired in 2000 after losing several foals and/or failing to conceive. She lives now at the Firestone's Newstead Farm in Upperville, Virginia.
